Step into the future with Tesla: Summer AI school for children at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum – June 23 – 27, 2025, every day from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Explore the past. Invent the future. Discover Tesla through your own creations.
The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum invited young researchers aged 10 to 15 to participate in an exciting five-day summer school where history, science and technology converged. In fun and interactive workshops, participants used artificial intelligence (AI) to design and create their own puzzle game in augmented reality (AR), inspired by the life and work of Nikola Tesla. The summer school offered a dynamic combination of interactive learning, creative design and technological game development suitable for beginners. Over five days (two hours per day), children were able to tour the museum and learn the basics of AI and AR and game development, and work in teams to design and build a game that brings Tesla’s inventions to life.
The workshop included: a guided tour of the museum’s permanent exhibition using a prototype puzzle game in augmented reality, an introduction to augmented reality and its applications, designing and creating a puzzle game with a narrative structure, creating storyboards, sketches and simple 3D models, exploring creativity with generative artificial intelligence, and presenting the final game to friends and family.
Whether your child is a little inventor, a puzzle lover or simply interested in how technology can change the way we learn, this series of workshops was the perfect way to explore the world of science, creativity and digital innovation.
Playable Museum: familiar places become surprising play spaces with augmented reality and artificial intelligence – May 24, 2025, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
For ages 12 and up, this workshop showed participants some basics of how to use select generative AI tools to create and develop unique characters and concept art for transforming ordinary places into fantastic play spaces with the help of augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI). Participants had the opportunity to play an interactive AR mystery game: a quest for a hidden blueprints in the museum leading to Nikola Tesla’s lost invention that could change the world. They then took part in activities supplemented by the most advanced generative AI of the day to create new stories, concept art, videos, music and characters with which to expand and enrich the game.
AI-assisted Character + Concept Design – August 31, 2024, from 10a.m. – 12 p.m.
An exciting workshop organized alongside the exhibition “Elementally AI – Chemical Elements Personified“. The workshop was open to participants aged 12 and over and demonstrated how to use many different generative artificial intelligence tools to create and develop unique characters and concept art for use in projects such as webcomics, games, animation, and other media. Attendees could actively participate in activities powered by the most advanced new intelligent machines, while also using large language models (LLMs) to help inspire magical stories about their characters. By the end of the workshop, participants could design their own characters and concept art for a hypothetical project, gaining practical skills enabling them to incorporate these new artistic tools into their creative work.
